The Union Pacific (UP) has announced that flooding and resulting washouts are impacting operations in the area south of Milford, Utah, on main line track connecting Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. The duration of the outage is unknown at this time, as access to the site is challenging due to local road closures. UP engineering forces are assessing the damage as waters recede and making necessary repairs. The service interruption will further impact operations, as this portion of the UP network was being utilized for rerouted trains resulting from wildfires and a corresponding bridge outage in Northern California.
