The Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) is reporting services challenges in response to reported extreme weather conditions that include high winds and temperatures. The report indicates that the majority of challenges are taking place at the western end of the highly trafficked Southern Transcon route. The weather conditions are causing a need for additional inspections and track repairs, and combined with the abnormal weather conditions, velocity of shipping has slowed. Customers utilizing rail lanes in the Southern California and New Mexico area should be prepared for delays over the next few days.
