New Bulk Transload Facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL

RSI Logistics Inc. (RSI) through its bulk terminal division, RSI Leasing Inc. has opened a new bulk transload facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL that is serviced by the Florida East Coast Railway. The Fort Lauderdale transload facility is positioned to reach local markets in southeast Florida. The terminal is conveniently located 2 miles from the I-95 and I-596 expressways, as well as 1 mile from the global port of Port Everglades (www.porteverglades.net).

The facility possesses 4 car spots that will be expanding significantly in the 3rd quarter of this year. Prior to completion of the expansion, railcars can be positioned in the Florida East Coast serving yard. The terminal currently handles dry and liquid bulk commodities, as well as lumber.

RSI’s Sr Vice President, Kelley Minnehan stated, “Southeast Florida has been a market that RSI has been very interested in. There are two existing terminals that are serviced by two Class I carriers, and we feel that a terminal on the Florida East Coast will provide shippers with additional options, that would lead to more competitive rail transportation costs. We are looking forward to working with the FEC to expand the terminal”.
