Service Bulletin - Weather: Hurricane Rita Sept. 22
With the impending hurricane in the Gulf expected to make landfall near the Houston area later this week, BNSF is taking the following actions to remove equipment from the path of the storm prior to landfall:
The Houston Barbour's Cut Port Facility closed at noon today, Wednesday, September 21.
The Houston Pearland Intermodal Facility will close at 6:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 21.
Traffic destined to the Houston area currently enroute will be staged on line.
BNSF will not accept traffic billed to the Houston area at any of its intermodal facilities effective at midnight tonight, Wednesday, September 21.
BNSF will not accept releases from on-dock facilities after 5:00 p.m., today, Wednesday, September 21.
Freight currently in-gate at Los Angeles Hobart destined to the Houston area will be ground stacked. As a result, we are unable to accept diversions for these shipments.
This plan also applies to interline freight destined to our Houston area facilities. We are working with our interline partners to have them hold Houston-destined freight at their facilities.
This plan will be in effect until further notice. We will send additional updates on a daily basis.
