Congressional Hearing on Railroad Capacity

May 1, 2006. The Railroad Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure held a hearing on April 26th to examine the current shortage of railroad capacity.
Government officials, railroad, and industry representatives testified to the current situation and possible solutions for improving the railroad capacity. The meeting was very well attended by both industry and government officials. Based upon the Member turnout and comments, it appears that Congress recognizes the need to increase investment in the country’s rail network.
Meeting details and participant statements are available on the Subcommittee’s website. Several rail related bills have been referred to this committee. See the links below if you are interested in learning more about these bills and would like to contact your representative.
