Anacostia Rail Holdings Joins the AAR
February 24, 2006. BNSF Today announced that Anacostia Rail Holdings, Inc. (Anacostia) and its railroad affiliates have joined the Association of American Railroads (AAR) as full members.
Anacostia’s rail affiliates operate 610 route miles of line in seven states and include:
- The Chicago SouthShore & South Bend Railroad (CSS), which operates between Chicago, Ill., and South Bend, Ind.
- The Louisville & Indiana Railroad (LIRC), which operates between Indianapolis, Ind., and Louisville, Ky.
- The New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA);which has an exclusive franchise to operate freight service on the Long Island Rail Road network in Long Island , N.Y.
- Northern Lines Railway, LLC (NLR); which operates between St. Cloud and Cold Spring, Minn.
- Pacific Harbor Line, Inc.(PHL); which operates trackage in the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, Calif.
AAR members include the major freight railroads of the United States, Canada and Mexico. Overall, AAR members account for more than 96 percent of intercity rail freight service.
